  1. Must read: 'Louise Brooks' by Barry Paris.

  3. Well thats the thing darthpops, I dont think that she was. I think she got a bum rap. I think she was a free spirit and she had a number of lovers, but no more than many others. She was a showgirl after all. But after she played Lulu in Pandora's Box, she shocked the knickers off your american Ladies Auxiliary members. Sex scenes, can you imagine? Have you sen the fillum? I mean, she swoons and it's implied that she has sex and everythink. IMPLIED.
I love reading biographies of silent movie stars. Read anything about Roscoe Arbuckle? And the divine Buster Keaton? I felt like crying when I read about how they destroyed Fatty Arbuckle's name and career.
Back to Ms Brooks...she was a wild child, for sure. But a very cool one. Dont believe the Ladies Auxilliary...

  4. oh for sure, I mean yes! the ladies aux cranked up the wowzerism on account of her showgirlishness, but she DID get around by the standards of the day. it was all such a fluffy outrage.

haven't read about the others you mention, only absorbed bits and pieces in passing.

god bless the 20's otherwise :D
