Easy for us. We get a public holiday for the Melbourne Cup. Held the annual rellie bbq, had a cup sweep and a bbq and toddly let the chooks out.
Any ripples interstate? Was a very nice day...
I recall husbot coming home about 6pm on tues and mentioning something about an office shindig. was the first I'd noted of it all. couldn't even tell you who won. since we killed the tvs much of this passes us by.
It's not such a big deal here, either. When I noticed some frocked up chicks, my first guesses were "Movember" and "Oz Music Month" before Melbourne Cup came to mind.
