I fkn love this! in fact I could write an essay on all the reasons I do, there are just so many. the awesomeness of the band - fine musicians and good 'ole boys to a man. the gaps in dentition. the clothes and hair. the vaguely homoerotic dance with the two lads at the end. the clothes and hair. the rolled up rug (so quintessentially 1950's home entertainment ... now we know what's wrong with teens today), the disapproving nannas. the clothes and hair. but most of all .... THE DANCING! straight into my all time favourite utoobs.
yeah, bummer about the no-linkies. still, it's just a click away!
isn't it gorjus though? I could watch a million times. so many delicious details. the sainted ancestors on the walls - spesh that last mustachioed gent with crucifix afixed. says so very much, that piece of southern art/admonishment. ahh .. it's almost too good, it is. makes me want to reinvent the whole scene - make it a saterdee night tradition at the commune :p
Well, I'll be. That was the hootenest hoedown I ever did see, boiy. Well done. glad it's over though. Did you see the grand dad putting on that funny white hoodie thing in the kitchen?
There's something about dancing that is straight up exhilarating (if you don't have to concentrate too hard). Get me a timber floor & a cherry print frock, & I'll be there Sat'dee. (A flagon of moonshine wouldn't go astray, neither).
still in a haze of wonderfulment over this vid. makes me more determined than ever to expand the world for my kids - outside the claustrophobic greyness of facebook, inertia, big cities, and all that bumph. the sheer joy on the faces and the organic nature of it all is beyond delicious!
the kids in this flick are in many ways very bluddy lucky to have been young at the close of an era - not to mention being in the center of southern mountain high culture. a culture that's fast dying, alas and alack.
hey, I loooooove this stuff!
ReplyDeletecant watch it on this blog....you have to click on the youtube link.
