War in the Hills

maccas is currently trying to get themselves a gig up here in the hills, and needless to say there is a large groundswell against it...They've bought the land that two GORGEOUS restaurants currently lease and they're going to knock them down. So we're going to lose the hemp shirts and lentil burgers at Hippy Haven, and the awesome Indian food at Saffron Cottage, in one fell swoop. Just in case ayone was in any doubt about just how insidious that company is, the site is, of course, almost directly outside a primary school. Because when you move to a township near a national park, you want your kids to go to school where they're going to stare at golden arches all day in the playground. Grrrr. I wrote a loooong letter to the council and it took them over a month to respond. Which hopefully means they've been overwhelmed by the complaints...if anyone wants to write a letter of complaint from interstate simply because the whole idea of Maccas infiltrating the hills is so evil, let me know and I'll send you the details.....fight em!

  1. Seriously.... like we don't have enough obese kids already in this nation. WE do not need another maccas in front of a school.

  2. Did you know there is so much sugar in McFatty's bread rolls, that they have to be named "buns" and not bread rolls?
    With you 105%

  3. we all have little badges, sold to fundraise for the campaign against.
Mine has a Ronald McDonald wearing a fig leaf on it.
Cashier at the supermarket asked me if it meant I was for or against.
Means either she's not too bright or badge is too vague. Or both.
I should have bought the one with the big red cross through the big golden arches. A little more straightforward.
Husby's has a Ronald with sharks teeth, but I cant let him wear it around the kids coz it'll scare em.

  4. Our local Maccas ran out of lettuce during the January floods & transport delays. Would they buy lettuce from the local market gardens? No. Instead, McD's sold no burgers which required the lettuce until a delivery was received from their preferred supplier. What does this say about them?

  5. hills people unite!

same thing happened here some time back when mcfatsos wanted to implant an outlet in every vacant square inch of these hills. naturally the hippies revolted big style, and .... WON! they're now permanently and forevermore bant from the montanes. if your hilly hippies want the good gear on how to fight the evil empire, they ought to organise a pow-wow with our hilly hippies.

  6. really?
Darthy, do you have any contact details for anyone involved in your campaign?
email them to me. My people will talk to your people. I'll send it on to our campaigners. We need all the help we can get & people would love to hear it can be done.
They tried to set one up in Belgrave a few years ago but it got rejected because of the danger of the site. The idea of getting rid of them for good is AWESOME
